Why you may not need a website yet
A traditional website needs a domain, hosting, design and regular updates. For a new home seller, that is time and money better spent on products and customers.
What buyers really need is simple: clear photos, a price, some trust signals like reviews and an easy way to order and pay. You can give them all of this using tools you probably already use every day.
Many successful Indian home sellers run for years this way. They focus their energy on products, photos and customers, and only think about a full website once they have steady demand and a clear reason for one.
WhatsApp Business: your order desk
The free WhatsApp Business app lets you create a business profile with name, hours, description and a link. You can add products to its catalog, save quick replies for common questions and label chats by order status.
Post products on WhatsApp Status every day for people who have saved your number. Use broadcast lists once or twice a week for useful updates. WhatsApp is great for closing orders, but people only see you if they already have your number, so you need other channels for discovery.
Start with the channels your buyers already use. If your customers are neighbours, WhatsApp and society groups may be enough. If you want buyers across the city, add Instagram and a shop link.
Instagram and Facebook: reach new people
An Instagram professional account helps people who do not know you discover your products through reels, hashtags and shares. Use your bio link for a page with all your products, and move serious DMs to WhatsApp to confirm orders.
Facebook Marketplace and local buy-and-sell groups work well for furniture, plants, home decor and local resale. Follow each group's rules and meet or deliver safely.
Online marketplaces
Large marketplaces bring many buyers and handle some of the payment and delivery work. In return, they usually charge fees or commission, set their own rules, and may require GST registration and specific documents. Check the current seller terms of any marketplace you consider.
For many home sellers, marketplaces work best as one extra channel rather than the only one, because you have less control over pricing and customer relationships.
Google and local listings
Buyers often search on Google for things like a home baker near me or sarees in their area. A free Google Business Profile can show your name, location area, phone number, photos and a link to your products, even if you do not have a website. Follow Google's rules for home-based or service-area businesses and keep your details accurate.
Local directories and community pages can also help. Wherever you are listed, use the same shop name, number and link so buyers know they have found the right seller.
A free shop link: a website without the work
A shop link is a simple web page with all your products, photos and prices that opens on any phone. You can put it in your WhatsApp profile, Instagram bio, Status, Facebook posts and parcel cards. Buyers browse in one place instead of scrolling old chats.
ShopShare gives you a free shop like yourname.shopshare.in in under a minute. Each product has an Order on WhatsApp button, so the chat opens with the product named, and your shop also appears on ShopShare Market where nearby buyers can find you. There is no commission, and payments come to you directly.
Put it together
Use each channel for what it does best: Instagram and local groups to be discovered, your shop link to show everything clearly, and WhatsApp to confirm orders and payments. Keep prices and stock the same everywhere so buyers are not confused.
Track where your orders come from. When a buyer messages, ask how they found you, or note it in your chat labels. After a month you will know which channel deserves more of your time.
